From time to time I like to feature a photographer whose work I follow Elske Botha Photography. I’ve been following her work for some time now and the main reason I decided to feature her was the consistent improvement in her work. You can see this is someone who is following her passion and striving to improve with each shot.
I fired a few questions off to her, here what she had to say.
What made you choose photography as a career to pursue?
I chose photography because I just absolutely love everything about it. It’s fun and relaxing, you can get creative and always try new things. Our family is very artistic so I guess I got the photography part. I also love making other people happy with my photos.
How long have you been a photographer?
When I was about 13 I started taking an interest in photography and literally used a small Samsung camera and the phones I had. My wonderful mom bought me a Canon 600D when I was about 17 and since then I really started enjoying photography. I am now 20 years old and have had my business for about 2 years.
How would you describe your style?
I’m all about taking portraits, I also mostly shoot in natural light. Perhaps I will become a fashion photographer, even though I’m not 100% sure where to start with that one, but I still have a lot of time for that.
What about gear, what do you shoot with?
I usually shoot with my Canon 600D , 85mm 1.8 and off camera flash now and then.
You’re out on a shoot and you can only use one lens, which one would it be?
Definitely 85mm 1.8, absolutely love that lens
Photoshop or Lightroom, which one do you prefer and why?
At the moment I would say Lightroom because you can edit more than one photo at a time and Lightroom really helps with fixing light and colors in a photo, it’s just so much easier but I do use Photoshop from time to time.
